Profile Summary

My name is Aleksandra Dubonosova and I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. Performing and teaching violin has been the focus of my life. I am passionate about passing on my knowledge and experience to students. My experience spans 20 years as a performer and 15 years as a violin teacher.

I have a bachelor degree in Music (Teaching and Performance) from the Odessa Music Conservatory. I have worked in symphony and opera orchestras in Russia and performed around the world. I have worked with Yuri Gregorovitch’s Theatre and Ballet Orchestra and famous conductor Valerie Gergiev. Currently I am an active member of the Melbourne Opera Orchestra (first violin) and the Victorian Concert Orchestra (first violin). I am also the founder of the La Premiere trio.

I first started teaching violin when I joined the Odessa Conservatory as a student. Before joining the conservatory I completed a specialist music school. This music school was originally founded by the famous Russian violinist and teacher Stolarski. Professor Stolarski taught many legendary Russian violinists including David Oistrakh. As a teacher I try to share Stolarski’s spirit, his love for violin and feeling that was given to me.

After finishing the conservatory and acquiring my degree I continued to teach. I taught privately and in a specialist music school in Russia. In Australia, I have taught at Bentleigh West Primary School (Apr 2006 - Apr 2009), Cranbourne Music School (Feb 2006 - Dec 2008) and Camberwell High School. At the moment I only teach privately.

I try to structure my lessons to involve the student, develop my student’s skills and passion for violin and music. I accept students who are five years of age or over. I work with all skill levels. So if you have never touched a violin or have studied for years you are welcome to call me and book a time.
