Bruce Sandell has been working as a professional musician since the late 1970s and as a music teacher in schools since 1992. A consummate session musician, he has worked extensively, especially in the area of jazz. Bands that he has been associated with are: Vince Jones, The Black Sorrows, The Swinging Sidewalks, Miss Dorothy, Marcia Hines, Renee Geyer, Russell Morris and Rum Jungle. At present, he is a member of The Pearly Shells Swing Orchestra and The Providers. He plays various music festivals, weddings, pubs, clubs and corporate functions. Bruce focuses, in his teaching, on Jazz, Rock, Blues and Latin styles, always built, however, from a foundation of Classical repertoire. He uses play-along CDs extensively and computer programs, such as Sibelius and Band in a Box and encourage students to join ensembles and do exams.
