Hi my name is Justin Forster and I spend most of my time playing music, listening to music, or teaching music on any of 5 instruments. In 2002 I established the Wonderful Woodwind program in a number of primary schools throughout the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and now I run an annual concert bringing all of the woodwind and string players together to form a large (around 60 piece) orchestra. All of my students are invited to be part of this wonderful experience both as a group performer and soloist should they choose.
Performer: I regularly perform live and have toured around much of Australia, and abroad playing festivals such as Glastonbury (England), Montreal Jazz Festival (Canada), Byron Bay Bluesfest, Womad (Australia and New Zealand) and the Falls Festival with the 'Melbourne Ska Orchestra' as a sax player. Many of my students have enjoyed this music and where possible they come along to watch the band play. It is always a great time! When it comes to teaching I have a tried and proven method for getting students up off the ground quickly and engaging them with music that is inspiring for them as well as highly educational in the fundamental areas of music reading and timing. With the video website www.musiclessonvideos.net all of my students have free access to video tutorials to back up their lesson teachings and provide a valuable asset for practising at home. I have also put many students through the AMEB examination syllabus with pupils generally receiving an A or A+ grading.
