Biography

Melbourne born cellist Jo Dee Yeoh was an RCM LeverhulmeTrust Scholar at the Royal College of Music (RCM) London where she completed her Bachelor of Music with first class honours and a Master of Performance with distinction. During her time at the RCM, she studied under the tutelage of Alexander Boyarsky and Alexander Chaushian. She has received masterclasses from Julian Lloyd-Webber, Leonard Elschenbroich, Raphael Wallfisch, Hans Jensen, and the late Johannes Gortizki.

Jo Dee’s performance highlights in London include Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, Victoria and Albert Museum, St Martin-in-the-Fields, St John’s Smith’s Square, National Portrait Gallery Trafalgar Square, Britten Theatre, Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall and Oxford University. She has also performed twice for HRH The Prince of Wales in Buckingham Palace.

Jo Dee was the 3rd prize winner in the 2015 Australian Vocal and Concerto Competition and 1st prize winner of the Teychenne Memorial Scholarship Competition.

In London Jo Dee was also a Henry Wood Hall Awardee and Albert Cooper Memorial Trust Awardee.

Jo Dee has been an active chamber and orchestral musician having performed with the RCM Symphony Orchestra, RCM Philharmonic and RCM Film Orchestra. Jo Dee has also recorded for BBC radio, Naxos Records with pianist and composer Tamara Konstantin, and recorded commercial music for a number of UK film and television shows. Prior to moving to London, Jo Dee studied with the late Nelson Cooke AM, and was a Young Academy Musician at the Australian National Academy of Music.

Jo Dee is an experienced teacher, having helped students at all levels to improve their skills and develop a deep passion for music.

In addition to her music qualifications, Jo Dee has a Master of Teaching degree from The University of Melbourne, having taught in classrooms across Melbourne.
