I am a passionate musician and teacher who strives to make learning a fun and rewarding journey for my students. My goal is to foster the enjoyment of music, technical excellence and comprehensive musicianship in a positive and encouraging environment.
I have been teaching the cello for over thirty years. My teaching experience spans all levels from beginner to VCE, from age five upwards. I have prepared many students for AMEB exams, and my students consistently achieve high results. I have worked as a cello teacher at several private and state schools in Melbourne, including Haileybury, St Margaret’s and Berwick Grammar, Mazenod College and Westbourne Grammar School. I am a VIT registered teacher. I also teach piano and have worked as an accompanist.
My qualifications include a Bachelor of Music from the University of Queensland, majoring in cello performance, and a Graduate Diploma of Teaching with a double major in music education from Monash University. I have performed with a number of Symphony and Opera orchestras in Victoria and Queensland. I have also worked with several chamber music ensembles.
Lessons can take place at my venue in Pakenham, online, or a combination of both as decided by the student. I teach students of all levels, from beginners to advanced, from age six upwards. Adult students of all levels are very welcome, including complete beginners. For students wishing to pursue examinations, I follow the AMEB syllabus. I cater to students with various goals, whether achievement-oriented or playing for leisure.
