Playing an instrument – whether online or in person – is challenging and exciting. Exciting because it is wonderful to play music we love, challenging because it might take a little work to get it to sound right. To this end, I am a firm believer in cultivating a wide repertoire, alongside vital work in technique. Finding that balance is often what makes a lesson buzz. In addition to this, as an advocate of Kodaly and Orff, my lesson plans frequently involve rhythm and melody games. It is always thrilling to see young instrumentalists with different talents grow in knowledge and musicianship. End of year concerts, exams and competitions are often the highpoint as that is where we get to share the pleasure of music with friends and family.
Qualifications summary: MTESOL, B.A Mus, Grad Dip Ed, LTCL (piano teaching, clar performance), Grad Cert Lit, Kodaly Cert.
