David Coit
Music Teacher
Brass Instruments, French Horn, Trumpet
About
I am a full-time professional musician with the Australian Defence force and currently work in Sydney as a trumpet player and conductor, both for Defence and freelance mainly in Salsa/Latino, Pop/Rock, Big Band and Jazz, but am fluent in all styles.
Before undertaking this current job, I was head of Performance Music at Sheldon College (QLD), one of Queensland's top music schools. I really enjoy teaching, and I'm interested in taking private students from beginner up to L.Mus.A. level outside of my normal job.
I have been director of the Queensland Youth Orchestra Big Band (7 years), a member (and QLD board member) of the Australian Band and Orchestra Directors Association and was a session lecturer at the Queensland University of Technology in conducting. I have guest tutored/conducted at many events/schools/colleges in Queensland at events in New South Wales, a conductor of the 2008 Beijing Olympics Orchestra and conductor and guest lecturer at Elmhurst College (Chicago).
