Lessons focus upon engaging the student’s enjoyment of music and developing a broad set of skills: reading notation and developing technique. We will also introduce improvisation, writing and composition; and work on rhythmic, aural and sight-reading skills.
Students will be encouraged to try a broad range of repertoire from classical/art music to folk songs, popular songs, jazz, blues and film music. The excellent AMEB Piano and Piano for Leisure syllabuses provide a comprehensive structure and set of goals for many students. There will be opportunities to take part in performances, masterclasses and competitions. In each case, I will adapt my curriculum to a student’s unique abilities, aspirations and tastes.
