Francesca Mountfort is a Melbourne based cellist, teacher and composer.
Originally from Wellington NZ, she studied cello with Rolf Gjelsten from the New Zealand String Quartet and with David Chickering, principle cellist of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
Francesca graduated from Victoria University of Wellington in 2002, and has since been performing with a wide variety of acts spanning genres such as gypsy, solo cello with electronics, contemporary chamber music, and has also collaborated with dancers and film makers.
Francesca is an experienced and devoted teacher. She has taught and tutored string ensembles at Rudolf Steiner, alternative and State schools, the most recent being Thornbury Primary, Candlebark School and Woodend Primary.
She taught cello for the Rudolf Stiener stream at Collingwood College from 2006-2008, and at Riddells Creek Primary from 2006 - 2009.
Francesca welcomes students of all ages.
