After twenty years in Sydney with a thriving cello studio, I decided to move to New Zealand. I have retained several students from my Sydney studio who are now taking online lessons with me weekly, with in person lessons when I return to Sydney for concert engagements. I usually teach from the Eastern suburbs when I am in Sydney.
I have a good system in place that includes the lesson, notes to the student immediately after the lesson, online support for any questions you might have, and access to an ever growing online library of repertoire that students are currently working on. There are some advantages to online lessons:
-not having to fight traffic to get to a lesson.
-being able to warm up before a lesson.
-being able to practise immediately after a lesson.
-being able to have lessons in the comfort of your own set up.
-you might live too far away from a teacher.
Unfortunately online learning does not suit absolute beginners. I will also only take children under special circumstances such as geographical isolation or health reasons.
