My name is Joel Walmsley and I am a passionate, experienced and highly trained trumpet teacher and performer. I have been formally teaching the trumpet since 2015 and am currently the Brass Tutor at Caroline Chisholm Catholic College. I am enrolled in a Masters of Music Performance (Classical Trumpet Performance) at the University of Melbourne and have completed both a Bachelor of Music (Honours) and an AMusA with distinction. I am a casual trumpet player with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and also Orchestra Victoria and am a recognised young trumpet player and teacher around Victoria and Australia. I am experienced in teaching students of all ages and skill levels and can focus on all styles of performance – classical, jazz, contemporary etc. In an early lesson, I will discuss with the student/the student’s parents what our goals will be. These can be as focused as completing AMEB exams (which I encourage to students who are keen to do them), or totally relaxed, with the goal of improving and learning new music in a fun and exciting environment. Lessons are held at my house in Blackburn. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have, I would love to hear from you.
