Joseph Eisinger

Cello Music Teacher

Joseph Eisinger began playing cello aged 7. After successfully winning the coveted Sir Charles Mackerras music scholarship to attend Sydney Grammar School, he completed the Suzuki Method aged 14 and was awarded his A.Mus. the following year. Joseph icompleted a Bachelor of Music majoring in cello performance on a full scholarship, under the tuition of renowned Australian cellist David Pereira and Sydney Symphony principal cellist Umberto Clerici. In addition to extensive performance experience both as a solo player, chamber musician and orchestra member, Joseph has played in masterclasses for such figures as Pei-Jing and Pei-Sian Ng (Australia/China), Richard Aaron (USA), Hans Jorgen Jensen (Denmark/USA), Kathryn Selby (Australia), Daniel Yeadon (UK/Australia), Peter Bruns (Germany) and Torleif Thedeen (Sweden). He has twice been a finalist in the prestigious Musica Viva Chamber Music Prize and performs regularly as a member of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra. As of 2017 he is also a casual cellist with the Australian Opera Orchestra. I am happy to teach a certain syllabus (AMEB, Suzuki, Trinity etc.) as requested. I am keen to encourage development of musicality and good technique to build very solid foundations. Lessons take place in my house in Lindfield. As a condition of my teaching I must insist that parents of children I teach under 14 years of age attend lessons with them, so that they can best progress. I am capable of teaching students from beginner to advanced and am more than happy to discuss the best options and lesson plans for you or your child; feel free to contact me over the phone or by email, or arrange to discuss in person. I was awarded the Certificate in 5th Grade Musicianship with Distinction by the AMEB in 2007, as well as the 6th Grade Certificate the following year. Since then, however, I have developed a very keen interest in Music Theory which I have pursued privately and at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. I am an enthusiastic and experienced tutor. I work with the student at a keen but comfortable pace suited to them individually, and am happy to teach for exams or simply sharing my passion for the sake of knowledge!
