Julie studied violin and piano in England, passing grade eight exams through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) in both instruments at school. She first began accompanying as a teenager, playing for the school choir in regional and national competitions and also for instrumental exams. Julie has been an active participant in amateur choirs and orchestras including the Croydon Philharmonic Orchestra (London, UK) and International Festival Chorus (Beijing, China). For eleven years she served as a regular pianist for a church congregation in Beijing. Julie has been involved in violin and piano teaching since 1996, preparing students for practical ABRSM exams, and has held school teaching posts in primary and secondary music. Before moving to Australia, Julie gained qualifications in instrumental music teaching, theory and a distinction in her ABRSM diploma in piano performance. In recent months she has accompanied for AMEB and VCE performances.
