As a certified and experienced music educator, I am dedicated to supporting and inspiring all of my students musically through a positive and creative experience in our lessons. I believe the experience of learning a musical instrument is beneficial to every individual as it is proven to hold great value within a child’s cognitive development as well as positively influencing mental health and wellbeing.
In 2012, I graduated from the Australian National University with a Bachelor of Music (Performance) with first class honours, studying under well-known Australian flute teachers, Virginia Taylor and Vernon Hill. Further to my tertiary education, I have participated in European summer schools and masterclasses with various internationally acclaimed flutists. In 2015, I completed my Masters of Teaching at the University of New South Wales as well as studying the Orff Schulwerk Pedagogy in which my teaching practice is largely grounded. I have extensive experience as a secondary classroom music teacher, an ensemble director and a private flute tutor. Most recently, I had the opportunity to teach music to children in rural Sri Lanka through The Music Project, aiming to use music as form of healing for students of diverse ethnic, linguistic and religious backgrounds.
Lessons are organised to meet the individual needs of my students, whether it be practicing for the next band performance, preparing for an AMEB exam or simply playing for pure enjoyment.
