Lilo Blyton Fiddlecat OConnor Method

Cello, Viola, Violin Music Teacher and Accompanist

About

A violinist since I was 14 and with over 40 years experience as a performer.I play many genres as a fiddle player and have worked professionally in the field of fiddle music. I teach through classical methods with a view to giving the student the skills they need to play whichever style they may wish to in the future. In July 2015 I gained accreditation in The O'Connor Method-A New American School of String Playing. This involved 15 hours teacher training at fundamental level (I&II)and travelling to America to complete this course at O'Connor Camp Maine. In July 2016 I shall return to complete intermediate(III&IV) and advanced level(V). The course is by violinist virtuoso Mark O'Connor . Editor and teacher trainer Ms.Pam Wiley has had 40 years in pedagogy and performance. Currently Books I,II,III,IV are available, with Book V pending completion. Mark intends to write up to Book 10,which will include his Caprices. Orchestra books also go with these -Book I Violin 1&2,viola and cello/Book II Violin 1&2,Viola,Cello and Bass I intend to teach this wonderful method in conjuction with AMEB. Mark's tunes are currently used in the manual syllabus AMEB Grades 5-8. I intend to promote The O'Connor Method in Australia now,as I am the first Australian to be accredited, along with an American girl in Melbourne and a NZ girl in Queensland. These are early days , 5 years up and running and what I love about the method is the teaching through different genres, with classical, bluegrass, old timey,blues,Latin,rock,ragtime,jazz,celtic-from America,Canada and Mexico. It's a wholistic approach to music, learning with a ..." gradual development technique in left hand and bowing skills and ear training as revealed through the study of beautiful music that encourages a love of music making in a slow, steady and natural way ...: (MO'C) All ages and level entry can use this method.Listening, performance and learning melody, harmony, chordal structure, improvisation and group playing is encouraged from the start. It gives the student a structure that enables being able to choose a style to specialise in if so desired in the future. We are working to have,in awhile,Mark and Maggie O'Connor to come to Australia to perform and run a camp along with Pam Wiley.
