Lucinda Peters is an Australian singer, guitarist, bassist, pianist, recording artist and performer with a BMus in Jazz voice from ANU. While she is engaged in her own career, she holds an equal passion and enthusiasm for teaching.
She has toured extensively within Australia, the USA, Europe and Japan as a soloist artist and band leader, playing with some of Australia's leading jazz musicians. Australian jazz legend, Don Burrows, dedicated to inspiring young musicians has been an inspirational mentor and co-producer of her first recording, Show Me the Way To Your Heart. Her own voice teachers have included Vince Jones-jazz voice; Steven Bennett (Opera Australia) and Robyn Wells (Sydney Conservatorium of Music)-classical voice. Lucinda has also been a member of chamber and jazz choirs (Adelaide Connection) and has conducted vocal ensembles.

- repertoire of most genres including jazz/folk/blues/contemporary popular/students own choice

- techniques to overcome nerves and anxiety when singing or public speaking
- Methods to address tension or blocks that inhibit natural vocal production
In addition to her vocal skills and achievements, Lucinda is also an accomplished in guitar, double bass and piano and welcomes any students wishing to learn these instruments.
Lucinda has maintained her love of the guitar since she began lessons at the age of 6. Her teachers, Cathy and Jason Waldron (Progressive Classical guitar Series, Barrios Transcriptions), established the Adelaide Spanish Guitar centre. She grew up playing in regular concerts and workshops, and performed Villa Lobos- Prelude no. 1 solo at the Adelaide Festival Theatre at the age of 12. Her repertoire includes works of Bach, Terrega, Sor, Guiliani, Barrios, Albenez, Piazzola. Lucinda's background in classical guitar has given her a solid foundation for her own song-writing and interpreting of songs. She explores jazz, blues, Brazilian, soul, funk, folk, pop and even a bit of country. Her taste is eclectic, varied and constantly evolving. Lessons with Lucinda are fun and focussed for students from 5 or 6 up to any age.
Guitar lessons will cover:
- left hand/right hand technique
- scales, chords
- repertoire of classical, spanish, folk, pop, blues, jazz, pop (depending on student requests and ability)
- can follow AMEB syllabus if requested
Piano for beginners:
Lucinda believes the foundations to learning and writing music well, lie in knowing your way around the keyboard. She uses the piano for her own song-writing, composing, accompanying, and performing. Piano playing also trains the brain to be adaptable and creative from a young age.
She can teach children from 5 and adult beginners. Her approach with small children learning music for the first time is fun, creative and colourful while structured, focussed and engaging.
