Live Online Lessons Available Music Teacher Flute, Piano, Piccolo
Madeleine Remont is a professional flute player and educator who is extremely passionate about music. She believes in catering every lesson to the individual’s way of learning and that lessons should be fun and engaging. Madeleine endeavours to help her students grow into well-rounded musicians that can do more than play music on a page by emphasising musicality and developing skills such as music theory and improvising.
Madeleine began her musical career in Canberra at the age of 8 learning classical piano, at 12 years old she joined her School Concert Band. She began to play flute and piccolo in concert band and began to take AMEB exams in both piano and flute, competing and winning awards at Piano Eisteddfods. She achieved her 5th Grade Music Theory and Certificate of Performance in piano. Her experience as a pianist enables her to deeply understand the relationship between the flautist and accompanist, knowledge which she imparts to her students. Later, Madeleine auditioned on both flute and piano for the Bachelor of Arts/Music at Monash University. Although she was accepted for both, Madeleine specialised in flute performance.
At Monash, Madeleine began to diversify her flute repertoire delving into contemporary, jazz, world music as well as classical. There, she began to play with the Monash University Flute Ensemble, where she played all flutes; flute, piccolo, alto flute, bass flute and contrabass flute. As well as several concerts, the ensemble commissioned pieces by well-known composers, such as Carolyn Morris and Andrian Pertout, and recorded an album “Dances and Delights”. Madeleine later studied abroad at the Prato Chamber Music Program where she participated in masterclasses by top Italian orchestra players. She later played first flute at the orchestra of Universidad Autonoma de Madrid.
Madeleine has recently completed her Bachelor of Arts/Music specialising in flute performance and has also obtained her AMusA. Madeleine’s lessons are dynamic, engaging, using a variety of modern and individualised techniques to draw out the best in all her students.
