Adult violin & viola classes
Have you always wanted to learn the violin or viola?
Have you learnt in the past and would like to reconnect with old skills?
Would you like to have fun learning in a group with other like-minded adults?
Adult violin/viola classes are held Thursday evenings in school terms at Jolimont Primary School. The groups are small (max 6-8 depending on level), and contain a variety of activities including physical warm-ups, ear-training, playing technique, music reading and ensemble skills. The music is primarily ensemble based enabling students to learn the skills required to play in groups with other musicians - which is where the fun of playing is! Prerequisites: interest and enthusiasm!
Classes are taught by Margaret Schlink, an experienced violin/viola teacher with a special interest in adult students and adult group teaching. She is founder and director of the Perth Scottish Fiddlers, a member of the group Twisted Herring and a violist with the Fremantle Symphony Orchestra. She has also played violin and viola in a number of other ensembles. She is immediate past president of the Australian Strings Association WA and an accredited member of the WA Music Teachers Association.
