Born and raised in England to theatrical parents, Kate spent her early life combining formal school with the more gypsy-like life of touring theatre.
She spent many years watching, learning and performing in the regular stream of pantomimes and summer seasons in which her parents performed and which they also directed and choreographed. Thus her love for all aspects of theatre and story telling was fostered early in life.
Going on to complete a BA (hons.) in Music and Drama at Bristol University, and postgraduate studies at the London College of Music, Kate then began a varied and international career as a performer.
This career included roles as diverse as being a cabaret dancer in Portugal, to being an opera singer in Israel with the New Israeli Opera, performing under the baton of such giants as Zubin Mehta, and the gamut in between, (CV. below).
Having met and married her Australian husband, Philip Gould whilst in “Showboat”, the two travelled the world as principals with the Stadium Theatre Company (P&O Cruises), and also jumped between Australia and England for several years, before eventually settling in Melbourne, Australia to raise their large family of six children.
As well as performing concerts with Philip and the children, Kate turned her attention again to the other side of the footlights, directing, choreographing and musically directing a series of musicals for local companies.
She also began teaching singing, acting and dancing with great success. As well as many individual students whom she successfully coached into professional shows, television, the commonwealth games ceremonies and coveted positions in universities and colleges, she and Philip have run highly popularholiday programs in musical theatre, audition workshops and master classes.
