I am passionate about increasing awareness and appreciation for the viola in the younger generations, and in adult learners. I have 18+ years experience teaching viola, violin and string ensembles to students of all ages since 1998. From 2008 to present, I have held the position of director of music, instrumental teacher and string ensemble director at Sophia Mundi Steiner School in the inner city arts precinct of the Abbotsford Convent. From 2009 to 2012 I established the String Program at Thornbury Primary School.
My approach to teaching reflects my own love and interest in viola repertoire. All my students are given a selection of highly engaging pieces that suit the interest and ability of each person. Students taking on AMEB exams are highly well prepared practically, physically and mentally. Average exam results for all my students is an A. Alongside Classical music, I have studied Contemporary, Baroque, Middle Eastern, Indian, Turkish, Celtic, Scandinavian, Improvisation and various other approaches to string playing. I have a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Music) and am currently undertaking my Masters at the VCA.
