Nicky Griffith is a young Cellist and music teacher, based in Alexandra Hills, Redland City QLD. She has privately tutored students of a range of ages and abilities in Cello as well as Violin, Viola and Double Bass and Music Theory/Craft.
Currently Principal Cellist of the Queensland Youth Symphony and Cadenza Chamber Players, and member of the University of Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Nicky has additionally performed with symphony orchestras such as the Queensland Philharmonia (as Principal Cellist), Toowoomba Concert Orchestra, Moreton Bay Symphony Orchestra and the Barrier Reef Orchestra in North Queensland. Furthermore, Nicky has worked with many musical theatre companies across South East Queensland as Cellist or Assistant Musical Director.
Having graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Music (with Honours), Extended Major in Performance in 2016 and Graduate Diploma in Education in 2017, Nicky now directs the string programs at Southport State High School, Southport State School, Coombabah State High School and Gaven State School on the Gold Coast and additionally teaches strings at Varsity College, as Cello specialist.
Nicky is very dedicated, enthusiastic and passionate about music and with a love for teaching, aims to pass these core attributes onto students.
Due to demand, Nicky is currently only able to take new students in Cello and music theory/craft, teaching from her home studio in Alexandra Hills.
