I have over 35 years music teaching experience. My career began instructing students at conservatories and independent music studios. For the last 19 years I have been teaching for the Northern Territory Department of Education overseeing music programs for primary, middle and high school students. My work with the NT Department of Education included everything from teaching individual and small group instrumental lessons to classroom learning for students from Years 7 to 12.
PRIVATE / GROUP LESSONS: I have worked with preschool children using a Kodaly and Orff music and movement course, prepared students of all levels (7 years old to 65 years young) for Royal Conservatory of Music (RCOM - Canadian) and Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) examinations on piano, flute, clarinet, saxophone and various levels of theory.
SCHOOL BASED LESSONS: My classroom teaching experience includes instructing students in all music curriculum areas for Years 7 to 12. I was responsible to ensure Year 12 students met the requirements for South Australian Certificate of Education assessments in Solo, Ensemble, Musicianship and Music Special Study courses. During my time as a teacher I was the Middle and High School Arts and Technology Head of Department, High School Curriculum Coordinator, Assistant Head of Campus and Head of Campus.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Piano was my first instrument followed later by saxophone. Over the years I've taught flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto, tenor and baritone saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone and voice. My lessons include theory, aural training and sight reading to ensure students learn all aspects of music.
