****** ABOUT ME ******
I have studied a Diploma of the State Conservatorium of Music (performance) and recently graduated from a Bachelor of Music, as Vice Chancellor’s scholar, focusing on performance, studio teaching, composition and theory. I have recently returned from Germany winning the 2018 Joseph Dorfman International Composition competition.
I have played with the University and Hunter orchestras and performed piano works both here and overseas.
I am currently completing a Master of Music at the QLD Conservatorium.
****** PIANO LESSONS ******
My lessons are a combination of serious learning and fun, in a relaxed environment with a real commitment to developing a long-lasting appreciation for playing the piano.
I believe one-hour lessons are best, so we can work on technical exercises, musicianship, analysis and expression. Lessons are conducted in my studio on both my WX3 Yamaha upright and new Yamaha CX3 Concert Grand.
I have had lessons and masterclasses from such great pianists as – Roger Woodward, Piers Lane, Elizabeth Powell, Gordon Watson, Michael Kieran Harvey, Carmel Lutton and Lisa Moore – and love to share what I have discovered from these masters.
I teach the full range of students from young to adult and concentrate on what the student wants to learn. I can teach music for relaxation as well as prepare students for their advanced AMEB exams.
Learning to practice is just as great a challenge as learning to master the instrument. Many talented students stop with their instrument as the practicing component seems too arduous. With the resources I provide, after each lesson, I try to combat the boredom of piano practice and encourage a love of playing.
