About
Composer, classical guitarist and performer who has experience collaborating with actors, directors, designers, dancers, and film makers.
I grew up studying classical guitar yet embracing its capabilities in multiple genres including, Latin American, Jazz, Classical, and Contemporary music. Largely due to the classical guitars immense tonal versatility, I always perceived it as a mini orchestra in my hands. This led to composing as it allows me to access textural, tonal, harmonic and rhythmic exploration.
My original compositions include a wide range of classical guitar repertoire in which I have recorded and performed my self. They include the use of a number of contrasting styles inspired by external sources such as a duet responding to a ‘Mid Summer Night’s Dream' painting, a solo classical piece functioning as a score for a short film and a performance collaboration with a contemporary dancer.
My approach to classical guitar compositions, playing styles and teaching include a great degree of creativity and open-mindedness, where one could use juxtaposing techniques from all over the world. In this perspective one may not only develop useful and more so traditional western technical skills but will find their own creative mind developing their own character within their playing.
