I completed my Bachelor of Music in Classical Performance (Clarinet) with first class Honours at the Australian National University in Canberra in 2012. I studied under the tutelage of virtuoso clarinettist and member of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, Alan Vivian, throughout my degree.
I enjoy teaching and playing many genres of music, not just classical, and have performed in concert bands, musicals, operas and other ensembles. I believe that, first and foremost, playing music should be an enjoyable experience at any age and at all skill levels.
To ensure this I offer preparation for AMEB exams up to grade 8 for those who wish to challenge themselves, as well as tuition for those who wish to increase their understanding and enjoyment of music in a relaxed atmosphere.
I am flexible and seek to tailor to the individual learning style of each musician. Learning to manage my own dyslexia in order to achieve desired results in both music and academia has given me an empathy and understanding of the difficulties that learning music can present. Whether you learn by ear, by sight, by touch or have no idea how you learn, all are welcome!
