Hello! I’m Josie. My passion is supporting people to make music. I am a Registered Music Therapist who also works as a strings teacher. My qualifications include a Bachelor of Music (Honours) and a Master in Music Therapy. I offer adapted violin and viola lessons from my home studio in Albany Creek (see note below*). Adapted ukulele and cello lessons may also be available for some students.
Adapted lessons are for students of all ages (children and adults) who may benefit from a more flexible and supportive learning approach. This may include students who have found it difficult to access traditional/mainstream music lessons, and/or students with a disability.
Adapted lessons are about tailoring each lesson to a person’s unique strengths, support needs, and preferences. This could look like adjusting the pace of the learning, or teaching with a neurodiverse affirming approach. This could also look like exploring different ways of playing your instrument, to make it more accessible or fun!
Please get in touch if you would like to learn more about my teaching approach.
*Note: I may also take into consideration whether you (or your child) would benefit from an at-home lesson. This would depend on several factors including your support needs, your location (on the northside), and the lesson time you are looking for. Feel free to ask about this option.
