Hello! I’m Andrea and I’m a violin teacher serving suburbs in Sydney’s Inner West.
I hold a BMus in Music Studies (Performance) from the The Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the tutelage of the Head of Strings Prof Goetz Richter. My teaching methodologies are deeply indebted to my former teacher Lynette Lim – a well-known pedagogue who trained at Indiana University and the Eastman School of Music in the USA.
I come with 10 years of teaching experience supporting children, young people and adults at different stages of their violin learning journey through exams or simply for enjoyment.
I strongly believe that music education should be nurtured in an intrinsic manner and not an extrinsic one. I have aspirations for my students, which is very crucial aspect of being a teacher.
MY TEACHING APPROACH
ENJOYMENT & MUSICALITY
It all starts by learning to develop a sense of enjoyment and love for music. We will learn how to play musically beyond the notes on the page
Strong basic foundational skills are the building blocks to music learning. My lessons focus on learning how to practice well through a range of focused creative thinking methods. I don’t use one size fits all methods but instead prefer to cater to different learning styles
My encouraging approach supports the development of confidence in performing. We will learn how to prepare for performances and learn ensemble skills
We develop an awareness of the dynamics in the body in order to facilitate healthy learning and practice habits for long term learning on the instrument
My Studio is in Canterbury
Travelling across all Inner West Suburbs.
