Playing music is my passion and I love sharing the wonder and versatility of guitar with my students. I run lessons 6 days a week from my dedicated music room in West Pymble, Sydney and my students learn on acoustic guitars, classical guitars and electric guitars. I’ve been teaching since 2012 and am an active member of 3 bands.
I take beginners through a carefully worked-out programme of chord and tab songs. Once they get to an intermediate level, they then get to choose their own music from a list of several hundred pieces which I’ve arranged and downloaded into Spotify playlists. If you have Spotify, you can type in my name into the search section and check them all out. I spend many hours of my week on music preparation. I encourage students to try a wide range of techniques and music genres Students can learn to read music in tabs, notes and chords and/or take AMEB exams. For teenage students studying music as an elective, I am happy to help with prep for school performance assignments.
I teach many parent-child duets (learning an instrument alongside your child is a really good bonding exercise and two people keep each other motivated to practice). We also put on an annual concert, for those who are brave enough to sing/play guitar in front of family and friends. And we always perform one big group song at the end of the concert, which gives my students the fun experience of playing with a group. In addition, I have an agreement with a local restaurant owner, who has a lovely venue where my intermediate-advanced students can play for the public once a month … and get a discounted meal and a few dollars for their time. It’s an awesome opportunity and confidence builder.
I am a NSW registered service provider, so am able to take the Kid’s Creative Voucher … which means that you can deduct $100 from your term’s fee.
