Tara has years of experience teaching both students privately and at several schools around Melbourne. She currently cello teaching positions at; Sacre Coeur, Our Lady of Sion College and Eltham High School. Tara not only teaches solo and small group cello lessons but also, double bass, string classes and conducts multiple string ensembles.
Tara has had multiple students of all ages successfully complete VCE music performance, orchestral auditions and AMEB exams from preliminary through to AmusA.
Tara is a classically trained cellist who started her musical journey at age 8 on cello, then piano at age 9. Tara has completed VCE music performance, Associate in Music (AMusA) a Bachelor of Music (BMus). Tara has a passion for sharing her love of music with others in the hope of sparking this love in others.
Through Tara’s teaching she wishes to obtain the best outcome tailored specifically to all her students whether this be; exams, audition preparation, performance preparation or learning as a hobby. Tara also actively arranges music for her students upon request. Tara teaching style caters differently to each student depending on their needs and learning style.
In Tara’s musical training she has taken part in masterclasses by; David Berlin, Daniel Muller-Schott, Zoe Knighton, Jean-Guihen Queyras and Louise Hopkins.
Tara has competed in various competitions including; Boroondara music Eisteddfods in orchestras, concerto competitions as a soloist and she was a finalist in the National Bach Competition in 2017 where she performed solo in Melbourne Recital Centre. Tara also won the opportunity to play Elgar’s Cello Concerto with orchestra in 2018.
As well as teaching, Tara also is an active member of multiple orchestras and chamber ensembles. She regularly performs at weddings, corporate events, memorials, academic ceremonies and building openings as a chamber musician and soloist.
