Conor grew up in Gosford NSW, where he began learning violin at the age of four using the Suzuki method. During high school, Conor attended the local Central Coast Conservatorium and was admitted to the University of Sydney’s conservatorium, before moving and transferring to the University of Melbourne’s conservatorium where he was awarded with several scholarships and graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Honours).
Conor has a diverse performance portfolio, working with international artists as part of the Mimir Chamber Music Festival, national stars such as Richard Tognetti and the Australian Chamber Orchestra, and even a performance with the ABC for Spicks and Specks.
Conor Magill is passionate about music both as a performer and a creator. Beyond teaching, he enjoys composing and arranging music, as well as exploring the intricacies of music theory. He has a particular love for chamber music, especially string quartets, and finds constant inspiration in Bach and the baroque period. These pursuits not only fuel his creativity but also deepen the knowledge and artistry he brings to his students.
