Learning piano at Counterpoint Music will kick-start your love of music in to overdrive as you learn your favourite songs and become a musician. Whether you’re a total beginner, seasoned pro, child, teenager or adult, it’s the perfect time to start, rekindle or re-energise your adventure in music.

With a focus on building your skills and understanding to allow you to play any song in your own style, piano lessons at Counterpoint Music in Brisbane are fully customised to your goals, whether it be to play for enjoyment, to be a performing artist or to build advanced skills in songwriting, improvisation, harmony and modern pop techniques.

The Counterpoint Music studio is fully equipped for modern lessons, with side-by-side pianos for teacher interaction and demonstration, looper, recording studio, wireless music playback and access to a wide range of interactive apps for use both during lessons and at home.

Any piano player is only as good as their technique, so you’ll be trained to play with ease, coordinating and cooperating with your body’s unique anatomy and structure. Everyone plays a little differently, so there’s no absolute right and wrong, but there’s definitely easier! By teaching movement principles based on the Alexander Technique, players of any level can unlock their physical potential at the piano.

Piano Lessons and songwriting lessons are held at the Counterpoint Music studio in Stafford, Brisbane, close to Lutwyche, Kedron, Gordon Park, Grange, Wooloowin, Newmarket, Wilston, Windsor, Clayfield and Chermside with easy access to public transport and plenty of on-street parking.

The teaching studio is in a private room with polished timber floors and a high ceiling which allows the Petrof upright piano to resonate through the room. Air-conditioning during the warmer months and heating through winter keeps you feeling comfortable throughout your lesson.

Complementing the traditional acoustic piano is an array of technology, including a digital piano, electronic drum kit, guitars, electronic looper, iPad and professional recording equipment. Your lesson can even be recorded with a searchable transcript immediately available, in case you want to revisit any part of the lesson during the week.

Students and parents receive a weekly newsletter with studio news, as well as recommendations for music, podcasts and videos to watch to help foster creative curiosity.

Performance days are held twice a year, giving students and families a chance to be part of the Counterpoint Music community by supporting each other in listening to performances that help map the progress that has been made during the year.
