Demetri Neidorf - Saxophone, Clarinet and Oboe Tuition

I have been teaching saxophone and other instruments for 40 years. I have been playing professionally for about the same length of time, in many styles including Jazz, Pop, Big Band, R&B, Gospel and Worship, Afro-beat, Latin American, Classical, Music Theatre, Blues, Rock and Opera (on oboe). I play with my originals trio of about 25 years called wordmadeflesh, and I also take whatever freelance work comes along.

I currently teach at Canberra Girls Grammar School, Campbell High School, Emmaus Christian School and my home studio in Page. In recent years I’ve also taught at Burgmann Anglican School, Daramalan College, the Girls Jazz program at the ANU Community Music School, and Music for Canberra. I’ve run Band Programs in Belconnen High School and Emmaus Christian School, as well as been a Senior Teacher at Young Music School Summer Camps.

I love teaching music! My immediate aims are that at the end of the lesson the student can play better than they could at the beginning of the lesson, and that they are equipped to be able to practice productively during the week. It is a joy to connect with each student both as a person and as a musician and then provide them with the creative and technical stimulation to help them grow.

I provide individualised instruction in technique, repertoire and improvisation, and am happy to assist students in preparing for auditions, AMEB or Trinity College Music Exams.
