Julia has been playing Double Bass for eleven years and achieved her Associate of Music in Double Bass in 2017. She is currently undergoing her Honours year of a Bachelor of Performance (Double Bass) at the Sydney Conservatorium of. Julia has worked as a Double Bass tutor for over five years, including teaching at the Kincoppal Rose Bay School. She has had a long-distance online student from Coffs Harbour, who she has been teaching since they were a AMEB preliminary beginner in 2017 who is currently undergoing AMEB Grade 7. At the end of 2019, Julia had the opportunity to mentor young string players in the Wentworthville Symphony for Life program; a not-for-profit initiative with an aim to give the gift of music to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Recently, Julia has been teaching young double bassists at Elanora Heights public school, as well as teaching music theory to university students. Julia has participated in Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO) Programs since 2018 and has recently been accepted into the 2022 AYO Summer and Winter Seasons. She also recently progressed to the final round of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship program, establishing her place as one of the top up-and-coming double bassists in the country. Julia has received several scholarships for demonstrating passion and potential as an up-and-coming musician. After she completes her degree, Julia is planning to do a post-graduate degree in Ethnomusicology with a focus on research and development into 21st Century Western and Chinese Double Bass prototypes.
