Elsa is an emerging, Canberra-based singer, educator, and arts administrator passionate about Australian music, pieces by women composers, and new works. She is committed to fostering singers’ confidence, musicality and love of music.
Elsa completed her Bachelor of Music (Classical Vocal Performance) and Bachelor of Arts (International Communication) at the ANU in 2022, where she studied with Cheryl Barker, Peter Coleman-Wright, Sarah Mann, Tobias Cole, Ella Luhtasaari, and Sonia Anfiloff. She graduated with the Myrtle Thomas Scholarship, the Peter & Lena Karmel Anniversary Prize in Music, the Marjorie M. Kingston Prize for Creative Leadership in Music, and the Bill Hyslop Prize for Voice. Elsa was selected to attend The Song Company’s 2024 Apprentice Week, and is the 2024 recipient of the Tall Foundation Award, Capital Arts Patrons’ Organisation’s open grant for an emerging artist to help research techniques/themes for a body of work.
Elsa tutored sight-singing for the Luminescence Children’s Choir and music theory and aural skills for the ANU Open School of Music from 2019 to 2022. She has also taught music privately and at Bellchambers Music School, Music for Canberra, and ACTAM, and conducted rehearsals at Radford College, Luminscence Children’s Choir, and Woden Valley Youth Choir. Elsa was a Wesley Music Scholar from 2021 to 2023, and now sings regularly with Igitur Nos Chamber Choir and Orchestra, and the Choir of St Paul’s, Manuka, where she is also the Children’s Choirs Manager.
