Massimo Bertucci is an Italian cellist born into a family of musicians, where music has always been a
central part of life. He was introduced to the cello at a very young age by his father, a cellist who
studied with Rocco Filippini at the Stauffer Academy in Cremona and with Alain Meunier at the
Chigiana Academy in Siena. From his father, Massimo received a solid technical foundation and a
deep-rooted passion for the instrument that continues to guide his artistic path.
As a soloist, Massimo has performed with numerous concerts including collaborations with ensembles such as the Solisti de La Scala of Milan and the Solisti of Teatro San Carlo of Naples.
He later continued his studies with Tanja Tetzlaff and enriched his musical development through
numerous masterclasses with prominent cellists such as Giovanni Sollima, Giovanni Gnocchi,
Maximilian Hornung, Steven Isserlis, Nicolas Altstaedt and Ulrich Koella. Attendend courses at
Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, Switzerland, and is a recipient of multiple awards,
including first absolute prize at both the Napolinova International Music Competition and the City of
Airola Competition. He was also awarded a scholarship ex aequo named in honor of Maestro
Giovanni Battista Guadagnini in Milan. He has served as principal cellist under the baton of internationally renowned conductors including Riccardo Muti, Enrico Dindo, and Antonio Pappano, experiences that have significantly contributed to his artistic maturity and orchestral sensibility.
