An experienced performer, accompanist and instrumental teacher, Matthew has played in a number of community orchestras on double bass including the Essendon Symphony and South Melbourne Symphony. This year in 2026 he returns to the Melbourne Symphonia.
He also performed regularly for a number of years as a professional opera singer with Opera Australia and toured Australia with Co-Opera of Adelaide.
Matthew graduated with a Bachelor of Music from Melba Conservatorium of Music and a Graduate Diploma of teaching from Melbourne University.
With a focus on accelerated learning, Matthew has taught students from 5 to 70 years of age who have had success in AMEB exams. A+ was achieved by a primary aged student in grade 8 piano after 2 years of lessons.
He has also taught in public, private and Catholic schools, all year levels from prep to VCE with graduates in piano, cello and voice (classical and contemporary).
Choir performances were described as better than professional and former students have graduated from private and select entry schools including the Victorian College of the Arts.
