About

I love teaching piano and I have a great deal of patience and resources to make sure you get the most out of every lesson. My piano studio is located in Park Street, Inverloch, quite close to the Inverloch Primary School. I teach using a Kawai GL30 instrument which is a grand piano in a beautiful mahogany case.
My lessons are one-on-one as I find this the best way to develop each person’s musical skills. Occasionally I will hold group lessons where the main aim is for the students to get to know each other.
Park Street Piano studio has two public concerts a year – Winter in July and Summer in December. Performance practise helps us all learn to cope with those pesky nerves. Sometimes we have a concert at Halloween and other times that are theme based and pre-recorded.
I can prepare you for exams in Piano Practise and Theory of Music but this is your choice. If you are not ready to present for the exam, I will advise you to wait till next time. This will guarantee a positive exam experience. Of course you don’t have to study for an exam in order to learn the piano.
I use studio-licensed music from ‘Teach Piano Today’ and ‘Supersonics Piano’ which enables me to provide you with lots of music at minimal cost. I use ‘SupersonicsPlus’ and ‘Carol Matz Interactive Piano Method’ for online activities and backing tracks to enhance your playing. I have a huge library where you can borrow a book for the holidays or to play a collection before you buy it.
I use games from time to time during the lesson. These games come from ‘Vibrant Music Teaching’ and I have access to many, many games, all focused on a different concept. These are a hit with students and help to reinforce new concepts learnt during the lesson.
Children aged 6 and up are able to use the iPad apps such as ‘Piano Maestro’ and ‘DustBuster2’ developed by the ‘JoyTunes’ team. These and other learning apps help with home practise and feature many of the current popular songs as well as Classical and Christian music.

Teenage and Adult students can take advantage of a flexible lesson plan which caters for school and work commitments.
