About

Daniel has a great enthusiasm and passion for music, particularly in the fields of jazz and improvisation. He has had a very early calling to seek to emulate the great masters of the alto and tenor saxophone and has more recently sought to study the greats of the soprano and baritone saxophones. His teaching methodology engages the student with a strong emphasis on a well rounded ideology. Improvisation from day one. Composition very early on as well. Aural training is the key here because music is perceived through the ears and straight to brain. Reading is essential, but you must cut to the essence of rhythm alone and scales, arpeggios, melodic patterns by themselves in isolation. The more the musical ear can be nurtured and developed, the greater the musical dividends are realised.
