About

Have you always wanted to learn an instrument and truly understand the world of music?
Maybe you’re a songwriter or an aspiring pianist…

My name is Selene Messinis and I am a multi-instrumentalist, composer and educator with over 10 years of experience teaching all ages and levels and performing with some of Australia’s most renowned acts.
I graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts (University of Melbourne) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Contemporary Music) in 2015 and since then, have toured with and composed for Circus Oz, and performed with Parvyn, Thando, NO ZU, Harper Bloom, Don Glori, Jude Perl amongst many others.

My teaching philosophy is a simple one: slow and steady wins the race and I strive to leave no student walking away with unanswered questions about the hows and whys of music.

I have built my private teaching business for 10 years and over this time, have taught in high school settings and have facilitated workshops with youth musicians and artists all over the country in various group settings. I have coached students through AMEB exams and VCE music exams, and even at tertiary level, and am highly knowledgeable and experienced in the respective curriculums of each.

I offer lessons in piano, voice, saxophone, music theory and my area of specialisation: jazz/improvisation.

I currently offer lessons from my teaching studio in Preston (or online with ZOOM during Covid-19 restrictions) and my students have full use of my Yamaha baby grand piano.
I have a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).

My rates are $45/half hour or $85/hour.
