Hi, My name is Sally & I take great joy and pride in tailoring my lessons to suit each students individual goals and needs. My methods draw upon the vast experience gained both as a classical concert cellist and contemporary musician during my 20+ year career. Professional experience includes working as a solo touring artist, chamber and orchestral musician, session musician for film and studio recording and working with a variety of pop/rock artists and bands – both here in Australia and in Germany.
Master of Music graduate of the University of Tasmania Conservatorium of Music under Christian Wojtowicz, I have had the pleasure over the years to work alongside some of Australia and Europe’s most distinguished classical musicians including: Professor Jan Sedivka, David Pereira as well as members of the Berlin Philharmonic. As a teacher, I have taught children as young as 5 years of age right through to beginner adults up to 70+ in my private teaching studios, and have worked as a visiting artist, tutor and conductor with various school and Conservatorium youth music programs – including the University of Tasmania and The Friends’ School in Hobart.
Now based in Cairns and Canberra, I enjoy helping students of all ages and levels to develop their own unique voice and confidence both musically and with the cello or as a conductor and am available for lessons either in person or online via Skype/Zoom.
