Gail's vocation in music has taken her on interesting paths as a music teacher, performer, music psychotherapist and early childhood music lecturer. Gail is a Past President of the Kodaly Music Education Institute of Australia (KMEIA). For 14 years she was National Coordinator for do-re-mi early childhood music teachers and is the recipient of the International Katalin Forrai Award demonstrating her excellence in early childhood music education.
Gail has taught music to thousands of children, from Babies through the Secondary School years, in various settings from private lessons, to large child care centre groups, in schools and at the Conservatorium of Music. Gail has enjoyed interludes as a performer and 12 years as a primary classroom music specialist
Piano: Opportunities are offered for piano and theory tuition; exams are optional through the AMEB and SCSM examination boards. Students range from beginners to advanced levels and performance opportunities occur during the year.
Music Therapy: Opportunities for therapeutic sessions are offered through the healing power of music. Areas of specialization include anxiety, depression, grief and loss.
Gail was born in Brisbane yet her teaching career began in Belgium and on return to Australia ‘Godfrey’s Academy of Music’ opened on Brisbane’s south-side. This purpose-built Academy was recognized as an ‘Outstanding Business Achiever’ in 1998.
Gail's qualifications include Teacher of Music, Bachelor of Human Services, Bachelor of Theology, Masters of Education, Registered Guided Imagery & Music Therapist and Fellow of the Association for Music and Imagery.
