I hold a PhD (Music Performance) from Monash University, focused on the application of several pedagogical approaches to cello performance. I also hold Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees in Music Performance from the University of Melbourne, as well as Licentiate Diplomas from the AMEB (LMusA) and ABRSM (LRSM). I am a VIT registered teacher, holding a Master of Teaching Degree.
I am a casual cellist with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and I have performed in New York, China, Australia, Malaysia and Brazil. My playing has been broadcast on ABC Classic FM and 3MBS.
I have taught cello and guest lectured at Monash University, Universiti Tecknologi MARA (Malaysia), Festival Eleazar de Carvalho (Brazil), Janet Clarke Hall (The University of Melbourne), and several high schools and primary schools.
My work on cello pedagogy has been published by the American String Teacher Journal, and I presented at the 2016 International Society for Music Education conference in Glasgow, Scotland.
I recognise that every student is unique and has varying aspirations.
