Olga Chernova

Piano Music Teacher

I am a musicologist with over 15 year experience in teaching Theory of Music at schools, private lessons and also at tertiary music education providers. I offer all kinds of music disciplines both for beginners and for advanced musicians who wish to improve their skills, and to prepare for exams. Pre-University and University students are more than welcome if you want to improve your theory and aural skills. As a PhD lecturer, I taught these subjects at University level for many years and believe them to be essential for all musicians. My areas of expertise are: - Aural skills tuition (identifying intervals, chords, harmonic and rhythmic progressions, sight-singing and melodic dictation) - General music theory, music craft, musicianship - Harmony and counterpoint - Music analysis - History of music - Piano for beginners, piano for leisure (kids and adults are welcome) Lessons are 30 min ($25) or 1 hour ($40). It is an introductory offer as I am setting up my tutoring lessons here in Australia. I have recently moved to Australia from Moscow, Russia. If you are specifically interested in learning Russian music and culture, please speak to me, as I have vast experience in this area. The lessons may be held at my place, or in the nearby areas (Glenelg, Brighton, Marion). Other locations are negotiable.
